Local Events

We LOVE the community of Hamilton, NY! Colgate University and the town of Hamilton host a variety of events throughout the year including an amazing celebration on July 4th, festivities surrounding the Great Chocolate Train Wreck commemorating the night of Sept. 27, 1955 when a train containing Nestle™ chocolate crashed in town, and a spectacular lineup of events during the holiday season, just to name a few. Be sure to visit www.thisishamiltonny.com to read about all the great events happening in and around our community!

Events at Maxwells

We always love a good party, and what’s better than having a party at everyone’s favorite place—Maxwells? We can’t think of anything better than that! What great times we’ve had hosting ice cream sundae birthday parties in the shop; plus classes like our Gingerbread House building workshop and cake pop classes over the holidays.

Is there a class you'd be interested in? Let us know because we look forward to even more fun events at the store!

Supporting our Community

Reaching out to the wider community, Maxwells regularly supports regional charities throughout the year. From sponsoring the Hamilton Theater’s Free Children’s Movie and Community Memorial Hospital fundraisers to donating chocolates or gift cards for Colgate’s Sports Boosters and local high schools’ clubs, we believe it is important to give back in a meaningful way.

One of our favorite projects is giving away free ice cream cones to first time library card holders when they get a card at the Hamilton Public Library. When those children come in you can see them coming a mile away - with their free ice cream cone certificate in one hand and their new library card in the other. It's a pretty great program that we feel very fortunate to be partnering with the library on this one!
